About Elemendar

Elemendar is a fast-growing AI startup in the cyber security space, founded in 2017 at the UK's NCSC Cyber Accelerator. Cybersecurity is fast-becoming one of the most important areas of technology (see the recent SolarWinds attack). Our current product turns cyber threat reports into machine-readable intelligence, making it faster, cheaper and easier for companies and governments to protect themselves from attacks. We want to build on this and become a leader in the Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) market.

We've recently closed our latest funding round and are looking for motivated and adaptable people to help grow and shape the company. Our small team makes for an inclusive, interdisciplinary, and intellectually stimulating environment. The team has more than doubled this year and we plan to double again next year. We have a mixture of full- and part-time team members, including UK employees as well as contractors (UK & international). We value diversity and welcome candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and under-represented groups in tech.

About the role

We’re looking for a permanent senior Machine Learning Engineer with experience working with graph neural networks (GNNs) to join our growing team and work closely with the CTO to develop and apply techniques to the structured graph of Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) produced by our existing products.

Our existing products turn reports into self-contained directed graphs of structured CTI. Your role will be leading the next stage of our technical evolution to apply graph-based techniques to the wider connected graph of these reports - helping our customers’ analysts better respond to threats.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy novel graph machine learning algorithms for tasks such as link prediction, node classification, clustering, and subgraph identification on our growing graph of CTI data
  • Collaborate with the product team to develop and maintain a robust and scalable machine learning platform
  • Expand scientific and technical expertise through familiarity with scientific and technical literature using that knowledge to work closely with our academic partners, with the potential to represent the company externally as a subject matter expert
  • Help mentor and grow the ML team.

About you

Essential

  • Experience with Graph Neural Networks and associated frameworks
  • Experience with deep learning, probabilistic graphical models, or other machine learning technologies and associated frameworks, such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn
  • Experience with graph-based databases
  • Excellent Python skills
  • Ability to work independently, with solid team communication skills to influence and mentor team members to make things happen; this may sound generic but we’re a remote-first team and most of us are currently filling multiple roles at the same time, so knowing that we can leave you to get on with things and communicate when things are going well or when you need help is vital
  • Asking 'why' to help with collaborative problem solving, and balance delivering and refactoring / quality to get an effective solution in the shortest time.

Desirable

  • An interest in knowledge graphs
  • Experience deploying and operating machine learning models using Cloud Native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in privately hosted environments
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high growth, technology focused organisation.

What we offer

  • Rare opportunity to join a fast-growing and dynamic AI startup
  • Competitive pay with an equity component
  • Flexible location and hours
  • Remote-first team with the option of team days off-site (when safe and wherever works best for the team setup)
  • As a small team, we can consider putting in place other benefits if important to you - please ask!

Apply for the job

We value diversity in our small team and welcome candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and under-represented groups in tech. Our CTO is a woman and dedicated to supporting the engineering team with mentorship opportunities.
